Eagan Creek is part of the Florida Forever Conservation Program, through the Florida Communities Trust and the City of Fernandina Beach was acquisitioned. Opening in 2001 to the public, the park covers over 300 acres of natural fauna and flora. Located on the north end of Amelia Iceland, Eagan Creek Greenway is ideal for hiking, biking, wildlife viewing and nature photography.
For the visitor experience and
same time to improve the park, the City of Fernandina Beach Eagan Creek Greenway plans implemented to improve roads. The enhancements include an 8 m wide and 500 m-long pedestrian bridge, which winds through Egans Creek wetlands. Natural Bridge, the bridge contractor in command of the bridge design closed in February 2010. The pedestrian bridge wildlife learning objectives will help the Florida Forever Conservation Program, to achieve through their monthly nature walk, said JD James, president of Nature Bridges.
Initial
pedestrian promenade plans by conventional construction methods, which found a devastating threat to the ecologically sensitive flora and fauna in areas such as Eagan Creek. Natural Bridges design team reviewed the initial plans and found that from top to bottom better construction methods used in Eagan Creek. By using the above construction of our machines and equipment remain on the tree, not the land that virtually no destruction of sensitive vegetation and wildlife habitat, said JD James, president of Nature Bridges. If we are to preserve natural resources, we must work together alternative methods of construction in these sensitive environments found. Top-down design is one of the ways we achieve this goal.
canNature Bridges uses recycled plastic components for the floor and bars. Surprisingly, the structural plastic is strong enough to support the weight of the natural bridges machines, not to mention keeping, it is virtually maintenance free. The structural plastic is made from HDPE (high density polyethylene) recycled plastic as is used for milk jugs. With the marriage of top-down construction and recycling plastic, Natural Bridges design team has a revolutionary green bridge construction project.
